Workshops for implementing the “Performance Protocol for Ombusdmen for Children”

 

Together with the People´s Ombudsman of Panama, a workshop was held in Panama City, Panama for the purpose of implementing the “Performance Protocol for Ombudsmen for Children”. This activity was included within the framework of the project “Promotion and Support for the Development of Ombudsmen for Children”, which is carried out by the IIN with financing from the Spanish Agency for International Development.

 

The event was attended by the Vice-President of the Directive Council of the IIN, Ms. Gloria Lozano de Diaz, who is also Director of the National Secretariat for Childhood and the Family (SENNIAF). The workshop was carried out in Peru on 11 and 12 October 2011, with the participation of the People’s Ombudsman, Dr. Eduardo Vega, the Deputy Ombudsman for Children, Dr. Mayda Ramos, and members of their staff.

 

The experience was repeated in El Salvador, with staff members of the Human Rights Procurator´s Office (see news). The IIN´s project “Promotion and Support for the Development of Ombudsmen for Children” has enabled it since 2009 to provide technical support to the national human rights institutions (Ombudsman) of 14 States of the region in order to strengthen the capacities of the relevant offices and departments for defending and promoting children´s rights (Ombudsmen for Children and Adolescents).
