IIN Technical Assistance to Paraguay

 

As part of the activities of the Inter-American Programme for the Prevention and Eradication of Commercial Sexual Exploitation, Smuggling and Trafficking of Children, the IIN is providing technical assistance to Paraguay for the preparation of its 2012-2016 National Plan for the Prevention and Eradication of CSEC.

 

In this context, on October 13th a meeting with members of the National Secretariat for Childhood (SNNA) took place in Asunción, Paraguay. Its objective was to evaluate the preparation process of the National Plan, to assess its schedule and persons in charge in view of the technical report by the SNNA´s Planning Unit, and to work in the actual drafting of the Plan.

 

During evaluation and planning of the schedule, Mr. Ricardo Miguel González Borgne, Esq., Alternate Representative of Paraguay to the Directing Council of the IIN and Cabinet Director of the Secretariat was present.

 

Subsequently, work on the document itself was carried out with Mr. Mario Pérez Espinoza, Planning Director, and Ms. Cynthia González Ontañón, Coordinator of the Unit for Prevention and Care of Child Victims of Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.

 

The following day was devoted to working with the technical team of the Cross-Sectoral Board for the fight against abuse and commercial exploitation of children, with the aim of approving a proposal for changing the Document presented by the SNNA´s Planning Unit and also validating the progress made on the previous day, as well as working on the Document.

 

Representatives of the SNNA, the Public Health agencies, the Ministries of the Interior and Education and of the civil society were present at the event. The participants in the work session approved the changes mentioned above and appointed the persons responsible for drafting the remaining chapters.
