Technical Meeting of the Global Movement for Children for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC MMI)

 

On 9th and 10th March took place a Technical Meeting of the Global Movement for Children for Latin America and the Caribbean (MMI-LAC), attended by 12 of the 16 organizations.

 

The activity was developed in Panama an had the presence of Ms. Esmeralda Arosemena, new Children Rapporteur of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH), and Ms. Marita Perceval, new Regional Director of UNICEF.  The meeting objective was to promote a joint work between the technicians of members organizations.

 

From the work in thematic groups (physical and humiliating punishment, sexual violence, investment, ODS), an Operational Plan for 2016 was designed, taking into account the central objective of the Movement for the period 2015-2018 that is to reduce physical and humiliating punishment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

The Institute participated in the groups Physical and Humiliating Punishment and Sexual Violence, in the voice of Alejandra Di Pierro, Specialist, head of the Inter-American Program for the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking and Trafficking in Children and Adolescents.
