Presentation of the Report on Juvenile Justice and Human Rights in the Americas

 

The report on Juvenile Justice and Human Rights in the Americas produced by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), UNICEF, Save the Children and the State of Luxembourg was presented in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 17 November 2011.

 

n this report, the IACHR makes recommendations with the purpose of strengthening institutions, laws, policies, programmes and practices associated with juvenile justice in the continent.

 

Ambassador John Biehl del Río, OAS Representative in Uruguay, spoke during the presentation, emphasizing the significance of the report in achieving a better understanding of the subject in the region, and highlighted the work planned by the IIN on this issue over the next few years, which will no doubt be carried out in cooperation with the States, in order to comply with the recommendations made in the report.
