Member of the IIN Correspondents Network participates in the «Annual Day of the Rights of Child» during the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council

 

Next Monday, March 1 within the framework of the 46th session of the Council of Human rights is celebrated «Annual Day of the Rights of Children and Adolescents»and the central theme will be «The rights of children and adolescents and the Sustainable Development Goals».

Claudia Riera, member of the Network of Correspondents for Children and Adolescents of the IIN-OEA (in Ecuador) and the only representative of NNA for America and the Caribbean, and Fred, defender of the human rights of the child in Uganda, will be the adolescents participating in this important session.

 

The event that will be held live will be developed in 2 panels:

 

Morning Panel-  10 a.m. to 12 p.m. () Securing a future for today’s children and generations to come: building back better with children’s rights upfront

Chair: H.E. Ms. Nazhat Shameem Khan, President of the Human Rights Council.

Opening statement: Ms. Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (video message).

  • Ms. Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) (video message) A child rights approach to SDG implementation and building back better.

  • Ms. Trisha Shetty, Chief Executive Officer of SheSays and President of the Steering Committee of the Paris Peace Forum (video message).
  • Ms. Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders (video message) Galvanizing global commitments and actions on the ground to deliver on children’s rights and the pledge to leave no one behind .
