Within the framework of the agreement signed between the IIN/OAS and the Marist International Solidarity Foundation (FMSI), and with the collaboration of the Asociación Paranaense de Cultura (APC) and researchers from the la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Paraná (PUCRPR), developed the research «Children -Violence. The challenge to guarantee the rights in the children’s dailly contexts”.

This research collects and systematizes data extracted in the field, after approaching the reality of different programs and projects of attention to children and their families in: Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala and Chile. The academic work was coordinated by the Professor of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Paraná, Ana María Eyng, between 2016 and 2018, and accompanied by technical references from the IIN-OAS and the FMSI.

The objective of the study was to visualize the strengths and weaknesses of different institutional protection responses aimed at children and to associate them, from the perception of all the actors involved, to the different risk and protection factors that each environment everyday presents.

In order to have a friendly version aimed at children, a team of adolescents from Colegio Santa María, Hermanos Maristas, from Montevideo, Uruguay, accompanied by technicians from the School and the IIN team, worked on the development of a text and friendly illustrations, which synthesize the content of the research.

During the work process, adolescents and members of the School team visited the IIN headquarters and shared with the General Director, Víctor Giorgi and technicians, reflections on the process of preparing the document, stating that «it was always ascending» and that this experience allowed them to enrich their knowledge about human rights.

The adolescents emphasized the need to share the publication with the study participants, especially with children and adolescents whose rights are violated, «those who need it the most».

The friendly version of the document is available in 3 languages and is intended to be a contribution to the discussion and strengthening of comprehensive protection capabilities for children and adolescents in the region.
