95th Regular Meeting

of the Directing Council of the IIN

 

The last 3, 4 and 5 November 2021,  was developed the 95th Ordinary Meeting of the Directing Council of the Inter-American Institute for Children and Adolescents (IIN-OEA).

It is an annual meeting that brings together the delegations of the different Member States of the Organization of American States (OAS), in which the IIN-OEA reports on the management of the organization, proposals are made to be executed and are they generate spaces for technical exchanges on different topics that impact the rights of children and adolescents.

On this occasion, the technical space was focused on the problem of violence against girls, boys and adolescents throughout the continent. The IIN-OEA presented a regional report and diagnosis on the prevention, eradication, and punishment of abuse and all forms of violence against children and adolescents.

In turn, an intergenerational table was held where the regional networks REDNNACEM, Red Surca and Red Coria were presented. Girls, boys and adolescents who are members of them, highlighted the value of their integration and expressed concern about various problems that impact on the exercise of their rights.

For his part, the director general of the IIN-OEA, Víctor Giorgi, emphasized that the participation obtained through these networks was one of the goals of the organization’s management “to have the perspective of the Americas through the eyes of girls, boys and adolescents ».

The meeting also carried out the presentation of the Report of the Follow-up Group to the III Pan American Forum of Children and Adolescents.

In turn, as part of this ordinary meeting, which was held virtually, Paraguay was voted as the venue for the 96th Directing Council of the IIN, and the candidacies for the direction of the organization were presented for the period corresponding to 2023- 2027.
