Virtual launch of the publication: «Building Systems in the Americas: A dialogical study of the regulatory frameworks»
The Inter-American Children Institute (IIN-OAS) presents the publication: «Building Systems in the Americas: A dialogical study of the regulatory frameworks» on March 24 and April 8.
The document presents the survey of the normative frameworks of the Systems for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Children and Adolescents of America and the Caribbean, at the level of the Universal, Inter-American Systems and the main national regulations. The purpose of this publication is to provide tools that allow System operators and the general public to identify central aspects of the systems for the promotion and protection of the rights of children and adolescents; make visible the importance of strengthening regulatory frameworks in the generation of public policies: and facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of the functioning of the existing institutionality.
With this contribution, the IIN seeks to advance towards the fulfillment of one of the recommendations formulated during the XXII Pan-American Children Congress (Colombia, 2019):
“We recommend that States and national protection systems, regional and local governments should strengthen and generate programmes for the inclusion, protection and promotion of the rights of children and adolescents, in order to learn about them and reduce ill-treatment of children and adolescents and thus eradicate domestic violence. This is linked to the creation of new institutions and a greater budget to protect children and adolescents (…). Finally, we recommend that State legal frameworks be strengthened in order to protect children and adolescents”.
“Building Systems in the Americas” is divided into three volumes: Volume I “South America”, Volume II “Central America and Mexico” and Volume III “North America and the Caribbean”, which will be presented in virtual conversations on March 24 (Volume I and II) and April 8 (Volume III), with the participation of the IIN technical team and leading commentators and experts in the field.
