Strategies to address the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents
On 16th November, the IIN participated in the city of Santiago, Chile, in the Seminar «Strategies to address the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents», organized by the National Service for Minors (SENAME) under the blended course on «Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents», which provides the IIN sharing responsibility with States that are added to the proposal.
The activity was the presential phase of the course, and count with the participants who passed the virtual phase, as well as representatives of the 17 specialized projects in the thematic and other actors, such as: professionals from SENAME, the Public Ministry, Interior Ministry, Private Organizations and Civil Society Organizations. The representation of the Institute was in charge of the Lic. Alejandra Di Pierro, Coordinator of Inter-American Program for the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking and Trafficking of Children and Adolescents, who gave a presentation on «International Legal Framework for addressing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children”.
On 17th November, the IIN shared a day of work and exchange with Mr. José Miguel Canales Rodriguez, Head of the Department for Protection and Restitution of Rights (DEPRODE) SENAME, Mr. Juan Gorigoitia, Area Coordinator Design and Evaluation of the Offer, DEPRODE-SENAME, and other professionals of the National Directorate. The day included a visit to the Special Project on Sexual Exploitation (PEE) REMOLINOS, managed by the Social NGOs Social Creativa. Its Director, Mrs. Jessica Sotto, and the technical team, presented the project and told their experience in working with children and adolescents victims of commercial sexual exploitation.
